What We Stand For
Art Unleashed seeks to enrich the lives of students of all ages and abilities by using the visual arts as a vehicle to cultivate creative self-expression, improve artistic abilities, and enhance self-esteem in a safe and welcoming environment.
We Are Providing an Environment for Our Art Students to Grow & Excel
Art Unleashed is a non-profit art organization dedicated to enriching the lives of students by providing art classes, camps and workshops for all ages and abilities that allow students to discover and enhance their creative side.
Our programming provides a creative space for expression for any member of the community, regardless of age, race, economic position or ability, to learn and advance their artistic skills in a variety of mediums, while connecting with others in the community for a common purpose. Throughout the year, we offer ongoing classes, workshops and camps in pottery, painting, drawing, mixed media and more to students of all ages and skill levels, taught by instructors with an average of 15 years of teaching experience. We believe that providing, affordable, accessible visual arts programming has a positive effect on the lives of each student, young and old.
Teaching the Artists of tomorrow
For younger students, classes are designed to allow them to focus on a particular subject matter, while exploring a variety of mediums and learn basic techniques for applying these materials. For teenagers, classes are designed to cultivate creativity, encourage artistic growth and improve the ability to express themselves in the visual arts, while continuing to build on skills previously acquired. Our instructors have over 100 years of combined teaching experience. Their qualifications include Missouri K-12 Art Education certification, Master degrees in Special Education, Art Education and higher education instruction.
In addition to regular classes, we offer workshops for adults, scout workshops and birthday parties.
Art Unleashed continually partners with local schools, community organizations and local businesses to increase the accessbility of art programming in the region. Partnering with area schools ranges from exhibiting student artwork on the walls at Art Unleashed to providing art instruction for students onsite at their schools that currently do not have art education programming.
Working with other community organizations has enabled us to identify groups of people that may have limited access to the arts due to financial constraints. Beginning in 2017, we began providing classroom space at no cost to Arts as Healing, a local non-profit that provides weekly, free art lessons to adults suffering with cancer or other chronic illnesses. We also work with organizations to identify students and families in need and offer full scholarships so they can attend art classes or camps.
What Parents and Students are Saying
“I have been a student at Art Unleashed since 2013, and attend evening sessions when I can. As a physician with long hours at work, I find the classes and the wonderful Instructors just the medicine I need to unwind and do something fun and different. Who knew that wheel throwing could be so challenging – it looked so easy when Heather created beautiful pottery in just a few minutes!”
“Such a great resource in the community. Super fun classes.”
“Great experience that my 8-year old daughter really enjoyed! Great place if you want to learn how to make pottery. Extremely friendly staff!”
